Family dynamics in kinship care

Kinship care is the first choice for out-of-home in United Kingdom. Family context described as both a strength and weakness of kinship arrangements with limited research examining how carers understand experience their family dynamics; focus this study. Data were harvested from 106 interaction reports 63 who accessed Care Helpline Scotland over 2-month period. Three themes several subthemes identified: balancing act; agency control; changing families. showed that managing complex dynamics organized around welfare child, which had to facilitate contact birth parents sometimes perceived posing risk child.
